Abstract: The current status of the tribological and relevant researches on green lubricating oils is reviewed. The significance of green lubricating oils is clarified. The methods to test the biodegradability are also introduced. On the basis of reviewing the current state of the base stocks and additives suitable for green lubricating oil packages, some problems in concern are pointed out. Finally, the development trends of environmentally acceptable lubricating oils are discussed.
