Abstract: Wear failure is an important failure mode of mechanical and electrical materials including aviation materials. The major wear failure modes and various factors causing wear failure are summarized. The current state of wear failure research and the development trend are reviewed. The projects awaiting further investigation are suggested, and the necessity to conduct research of wear failure of materials is pointed out.
