Calculation and Analysis of Air Bearing Performance for Magnetic Head/Disks

  • 摘要: 提出了1种计算超薄气膜润滑轴承压力分布的有限差分法,在此基础上对某磁头快速或缓慢偏离平衡位置造成的压力变化及气体轴承刚度进行分析.结果表明:随着气膜特征高度降低,初始纵翻倾角减小,气体轴承刚度增大;垂直于磁盘方向的微小位移不会对磁头平衡造成威胁,但磁头纵翻造成的翻转力矩变化较复杂,需要加以控制;磁头飞行姿态的突变将引起明显的挤压效应,挤压效应的强弱与初始飞行姿态有关.

     

    Abstract: A new iterative algorithm of finite difference method used to numerically solve the lubrication problems of magnetic head/disks under ultra thin gas film thickness is presented.Unlike the conventional difference finite method,the pressure included in the Couette flow term now serves as main iterative part.This will effectively solve the problem of numerical oscillation at a high bearing number.In the most occasions,the numerical method converges stably and calculates quickly.Pressure distributions and bearing stiffness are calculated on the occasions that a slider deviates slowly or abruptly from its balance position.Results show that the lower the slider's reference height or pitch angle is,the higher the bearing stiffness is.Small movements perpendicular to the disk can not make slider lose balance,while different pitch angles can make much difference on the bearing force implying on the slider,which should be controlled by designers.Abrupt variations of sliders flying attitude may cause apparent squeeze effects,whose intension is related to the steady flying attitude before the variations.
