Friction-Induced Magnetization and Tribological Performances of the Fe/PTFE Composites

  • In this paper, the friction-induced magnetization of the Fe/PTFE composites was studied. The effects of the sliding speed, load and filler content on the friction-induced magnetization of the composites were mainly investigated. The results show that as the load increased, the friction-induced magnetic flux density of the composites increased slowly. And it decreased slightly when the load exceeded 2.5 MPa. With the increase of the sliding speed, the frictioninduced magnetic flux density decreased gradually. In addition, as the filler content increased, the friction-induced magnetic flux density increased. The friction-induced magnetization behavior of the polymeric composites containing ferromagnetic fillers promoted the formation and stability of transfer film, which has a beneficial effect on reducing friction and wear of the composites.
