Abstract
Influence of van der Waals force on the flying attitude of magnetic head slider was investigated numerically. The van der Waals force mainly acted on the rear pad of the slider. The loading capability decreased significantly under the influence of van der Waals force when flying height was smaller than 10 nm, which led the flyingheight to decrease. Numerical results show that the van der Waals force on slider height and pitch angle. The loading was mainly decided by flying capability and pitch moment decreased greatly under influence of van der Waals force with decreasing of flying height and pitch angle, however, van der Waals force was non-sensitive to roll angle. With decreasing of flying height and roll angle, the van der Waals force decreased the loading capability and roll moment slightly. Effect of van der Waals force can be reduced by increasing the pitch angle and reducing the trailing pad of the slider.
